Definition of WEB Radio

Web radio (or Internet radio) is a broadcasting service transmitted via the Internet.
Not every web "radio station" has a corresponding traditional radio station. Many web radio stations
are completely independent from traditional ("terrestrial") radio stations and broadcast only on the
Internet. Broadcasting on the Internet is usually referred to as webcasting.
You have probably heard the terms streaming or webcasting, or you have heard from your favorite radio or TV stations
that you can listen to them on the web at work. Well, just like all the radio stations and local TV, the webcasts
have very little to do with Eastern Jackson County let alone Oak Grove, Bates City or any of the small surrounding
towns. If we want local news, it is either from our local newspaper which comes out once a week or whatever news
we can get from over the fence in the back yard. As a matter of fact it is like they say, " if it weren't
for bad news I would get no news at all " from TV or radio.
We are offering an alternative to all of that; we are " KBLM the Moon". We are a local web radio station
right here in Oak Grove. We will bring you live shows daily of music and news with current events of, about, and
for Oak Grove and the surrounding area.
We will have advertising that is affordable to the small businesses right here that could never afford to advertise
on the local radio or TV stations. There is hardly any way for the small business person to compete with the "
big guy's" budgets. The "big guys" spend more on advertising in a month than most small businesses
spend on the entire operating costs for a full year. For around $5.00 a week there will be a banner ad on our website
(with a link to your site if you have one) and at least one 20 to 30 second commercial on every show every day
of the week on KBLM. Just think - your ad literally out there on the web for the whole world to see and hear for
only $5.00 a week.
Local on-air personalities will entertain you with music, news, local events, school news by local students (giving
them a chance to perhaps start a career in broadcasting), and a local request and dedication show nightly. In the
future we hope to have live re-creations and updates of the "old time radio shows from the past" done
by our own local drama students.
We also hope to broadcast the "Sound of Panther Pride" high school band, football, basketball and baseball
games live or at least a pod cast for listening at a later date. Imagine being able to hear that famous play where
you heard your son, daughter or grandchild's name over the loud speakers or perhaps listen to the school concert
that you missed because of a late day at work.
The benefits are many for our community and we want to deliver what the radio and TV stations of Kansas City just
can't or won't.
